A lot of us don’t always read the fine print on our car insurance policies.  I mean who can blame us?  They are long and tiny print!

But sometimes it takes an unforseen accident to bring to light the tiny details of your insurance policy.  This is what happened to us, and I am telling you this, so that you will maybe take a second look at your policy before lending out your car.

We had a pickup truck, that we didn’t use all the time.  A friend’s own pickup truck was in the shop, and he really needed a vehicle to get to work.  He would have had to use his wife’s van, and that would have left her without a car, on a farm with five kids.  My husband felt badly for him, and offered him the use of our pickup truck for a few days.  He was grateful.  He showed me his vehicle insurance, I even took a copy of his drivers licence.  Everything seemed fine.
